Cities There are three incorporated cities and one town in Sevier County, Tennessee. Sevierville, with a population of ___, is the county seat. It is experiencing major new economic development as the demand for tourism services continues to grow. In 2004, the State of Tennesse approved a $182 million Central Business Improvement District (CBID) project for Sevierville that would include major public and private development. A cornerstone of the CBID project was the Sevierville Events Center at Bridgemont which opened in late 2007. Pigeon Forge is Sevierville's immediate neighbor to the south. Its population of ___ belies the enormous tourist trade that it generates. Pigeon Forge offers a mind-boggling array of tourism-oriented activities, live show theaters, restaurants, large outlet-type retail centers and hospitality services. Dollywood is Tennessee's only major theme park and Pigeon Forge's premier attraction. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg immediately south of it are Tennessee's only two statutorily designated Premier Type Resort Areas. As such they each receive extraordinary sales tax payments. With these payments and high local sales tax collections, these cities as well as the Sevier County government, are able to maintain very low compartive property tax rates, a near average local sales tax rate and relatively low motel and hotel tax rates. Both cities also have Special Local Gross Receipts Tax provisions which allow them to export much of their local burden for services to the tourists whose presence creates much of those burdens. cityofbranson.org :: Home :: Search Our Listings :: Search All Listings :: Professional Services :: Contact Us :: Privacy Policy :: Area Information :: City & County Information :: Local News Headlines :: Weather :: Maps ::
